biography

There's something a little surreal about growing up under strict ideologies and parenting that starkly contradicts the values you're supposed to be building up, escaping that life then only to end up kidnapped by the opposition several years later, ending up an experiment of theirs for quite some time.

The whole Isu thing and precursor genes isn't even something worth going into, because it's too mind-boggling to really explain. Either way, being thrown from one organisation to the other, living on the run a couple years and trying to stay under the radar and follow the holograms of these ancient apparitions in order to save the world from pending doom— Yeah, not your average assassin story.

When Abstergo captured him, Desmond had never imagined the world that was about to open up to him. Isu civilisation aside, he had shunned the brotherhood and run away from home only to end up a captive of the Templars, whom up till then he'd only thought of as fictive villains, the monster under your bed there to frighten you into obedience.

Turns out reality wasn't quite so pleasant, and neither were his trips into the animus. The technology is honestly over his head, but he knows what it can do, and he knows what it did to him. Reliving Altaïr's memories, discovering his path, his dedication and faith only to return from missions with more questions than answers, and finally discovering that the mentor he'd so faithfully trusted had been the enemy all along.

The damage such discoveries had done to Desmond were naturally lesser than to Altaïr, but he still experienced at least an echo of them. Through Altaïr and Ezio, Desmond realised the true nature of men as well as the responsibility of what it means to be an Assassin. It is more than a name, than a legacy of murder and shadows. It is an obligation towards the world in order to ensure the preservation of freedom. However, Abstergo is no easy opponent. It is rather like the Hydra, a beast so many-headed that cutting off one only causes the emergence of two others. For such is the power-hungry nature of man, and Templars.

Through the confusion, his belated attempts at resisting the Templars and joining the assassins, he had only one constant to draw strength and guidance from: the ancestors whose lives he was reliving.

Through Ezio he learned much, and was giving the opportunity to view Altaïr's later memories as well, although a memory within a memory is a rather mind-boggling concept. The bleeding effect was also ever-present in guiding him, teaching his body what to do in the span of days rather than years. He became as fully fledged an assassin as Ezio had, who had become Mentor and guided their order throughout the renaissance.

It's only a pity that Juno is guiding him instead to a specific temple through Haytham and Connor, preparing him subliminally for something he'd rather not be doing if it could be avoided. For all that Bill would likely never have agreed to give Desmond the chance to prove himself and his worth, he'd still have liked to try, instead of using the Apple at the temple to seal his own fate.

Desmond should have died in that temple after averting catastrophe. He should have been burnt to a crisp, and yet here he was… Alive, moderately well and with a new number assigned within yet another of Abstergo's Animus research facilities. Spain, this time.

It wasn't just him anymore though, this place was far bigger and held many bloodline assassins. It had taken a while, but he'd proved himself and as a result somehow ended up following in Ezio's footsteps a second time, being considered the assassins' mentor and leader. The job didn't sit well with him, despite his myriad experience through his ancestors. But then, none of them had ever set out to become leaders either. It just happened.

The Templars were resourceful, they'd hidden the fact he was alive from the world, never referred to him by name and had even made a significant investment in him by giving him the surgery needed to repair his arm. What had once been charred black layers of skin had been repaired until it looked normal, or as normal as it could with Isu circuitry branded into him…

They were looking for something, tracing the prisoners' bloodlines in search of an Apple, and Desmond would be damned if he allowed those bastards to get their hands on it. Still, that wasn't exactly an easy task.

For all that the Templars had converted an old Assassin stronghold into their base of operations, there was diligent surveillance, therapy and rehab to tend to, as well as the most recent development of the bleeding effect. He was seeing ghosts more vividly than before, but the difference was that he didn't just see an imprint of a past moment, he saw his ancestors and could communicate with them. Altair, Ezio, Edward, Haytham, Connor…

Now all that was left was to break out with the others and then work from there, taking out Abstergo as they go.

biography

Turns out the cliché of the villain capturing young girls off the street in a white van isn't the kind of thing that only happens on TV. Abstergo had captured her on her way home from school when she was eleven, a white van on the street corner and their goons had easily subdued her. After all, while she carried the assassin bloodline, her mother was a trained Navy S.E.A.L. and she obviously wasn't.

From that day forward Avery was a captive at the Abstergo research facility in Madrid, running a project that would supposedly eliminate aggression in a subject, except the truth was far scarier. Instead everyone there was from an assassin bloodline, involved in the fight or not. And everyone had mandatory sessions in this weird machine that looked like a scorpion's tail which let your body move while making you hallucinate a past that wasn't yours. The others said the machine was different than a regular Animus, whatever that was. They said this one was dangerous, that if you fought it you could lose your mind.

There was no way out. The only way was a nosedive off Breakneck Ridge, as the others called it, a steep ravine from which even a leap of faith would not save you. Certain death for those who chose not to submit to the Templars and their schemes. That was another thing she learned. Assassins and Templars, Abstergo, a battle that had raged for centuries. And now she was caught up in the middle of it all, with no way home. Who knows whether her parents even thought she was still alive…

It wasn't until three years of suffering Animus sessions getting to know an ancestor she frankly was beginning to hate, that things changed. Someone new came in, and he seemed different from the others somehow, more poised and confident, he'd taken on a lot of guys in the cafeteria that one time and come out on top effortlessly. She was kinda impressed honestly. But she didn't get close to him, not until she found him one day in one of her hiding spots near the rafters and decided to strike up a conversation.

While quiet at first, he slowly began talking to her, and she found out later that a nasty Animus shock had left him mute for a while as he tried to unscramble his brain, and from there a strong friendship grew. In the end they even saw each other as family, being considered Desmond's little sister in a way.

It was thanks to him that they even had a single chance of escape in the first place. He made allies in unlikely places and figured out that they were in an old assassin stronghold, that there were tunnels below the facility and even a first civilisation cache, lots of weapons, books, even booze, not that she was allowed to have any. It took another two years total since his arrival before they were ready, and she even got to be part of the mission. She was respected as a capable assassin, and she loved that, even if she initially wanted to be closer to the fighting.

Getting out was a fierce battle that changed her mind a little about the danger. She was small and nimble, so the crowded quarters of the hallways were ideal for her to work with but it had still been terrifying. They conquered the facility and made it out, though not without some losses. Desmond made for a fine leader.

From that day forward they were a rogue group of assassins who stuck to the old ways, protecting the people, respecting the tenets that had guided their order for centuries. The modern assassins were far too cold for most of them, and they weren't eager to join up with them any time soon, if ever. Desmond was elected as their leader, and they made trouble for Abstergo whenever they could, stealing supplies and gathering intelligence.

She wasn't granted Master Assassin rank once the system was in place, much to her frustration, because at the time she was still too young. As soon as she hit eighteen she was promoted, as despite her age she was very capable and trusted. Desmond was precious family to her, but nothing warmed her more than when Desmond said they could go looking for her family. Her parents had vanished off the face of the earth and she despaired for a while, until they caught trace of her grandfather. Seeing him again was such a crushing relief.

Now stationed with a permanent base at the order's initial location of rebirth at Masyaf, she and the others worked hard to keep their skills sharp and live in this community they had created, continuing in the fight against the Templars who had thought to take everything from them. They better watch out; Vox Populi is coming.

donovan mckenzie

height — 5'9" eye colour — green hair colour — brown age — 28 years old occupation / title — freelancer | assassin face claim — Tomas Skoloudik

biography

Donovan had been a simple freelance programmer working from his simple flat near New York City, when he first caught onto the trail of the Assassins. He hadn't known who they were at first though, simply imagining them to be hackers intent on lifting his client of a good portion of their database, something he hadn't been inclined to allow to happen initially, since they paid him very nicely for exactly that.

Abstergo occasionally hired outside the house, freelancers dying to get a decent gig to pay the bills, stuff like that. People who had the time and the inclination to scour the borders of the Abstergo and Helix networks in order to catch any rats trying to get in. Donovan was one of those desperate freelancers, and considering the cash he got paid, he made very sure to be good at what he did.

Apparently, he was good enough that at some point, hacking Abstergo wasn't nearly as interesting as hacking his little computer station. The first time Bischop had made contact with him he'd been startled to hell and back, and it had taken a while before he finally conceded to listen to her.

He'd never actually taken a look at the data he'd been protecting, and he refused to breach client confidentiality, so she showed him instead the data they'd pilfered already. It kind of stung his pride how much data they'd stolen, but then he wasn't in charge of protecting the entire network either, just a small section of it. There was word of a new program that would debut soon and he'd been contacted with word to prepare for something a bit more challenging soon.

Bishop wanted in on that. She knew what was coming: the official launch of project Helix. She explained to him the entire point of the project, as well as the assassin/templar conflict. It was a tough pill to swallow, but she had plenty of proof, and challenged him to find out the rest for himself. She challenged him to accept Abstergo's job, and to enter the Helix himself to find out the truth.

In the end, that's what happened. He closed the deal with Abstergo to protect the local Helix servers to the best of his (admittedly considerable) ability, and in return he was paid handsomely, and given a Helix of his own to enjoy in his spare time should he feel inclined.

Once he did, Bischop took over. The system was supposed to be secure, but still she appeared in his field of vision, and showed him a few snippets of assassin history and the fight against the Templars. She told him of what they were searching for, Pieces of Eden, mythical objects of a long past civilisation that apparently held incredible power. She also guided him through a sample check that showed him his own lineage. Much to his surprise, a few assassins did populate his bloodline, but not to such a degree that it had any real impact on him like it had on some.

Still, his curiosity was piqued and he wanted to know more. Nothing really stopped him from going along with Bischop's little plans, anyway. As long as he protected Helix' servers from interlopers, he'd get paid. Along the way, he could enter Helix himself and explore his ancestors' lives, or those of others if needed, and discover the true history of the Assassins and Templars, while searching for these precursor artefacts.

And should he come across some poor assassin sod stuck in the system because of the security sweeps, then he was in a perfect position to free them if he had the opportunity to do so.

Along the way he became more invested though, beginning to truly believe in the Assassins and their cause, their creed, in a way he hadn't before. He knew the memories he relived through Helix left their mark on him, but he'd never imagined how deep that mark would go.

Not until he entered the skin of an ancestor of his placed in Russia, who had been on the trail of one such artefact as Bischop was seeking, only to begin feeling rather strange after exiting Helix, dizzy, disoriented, as though he didn't quite fit into his skin anymore.

Donovan didn't realise how significant the signs were until it got bad enough that she noticed. The bleeding effect, they called it. That's when they called someone in, another underground assassin agent. they were to share a flat more central in NYC, better connectivity, better hiding, and most importantly: surveillance in case the effect got the better of him.

He didn't want to give up though. Leaving the project and Helix wasn't an option he was willing to consider. He felt a kinship with his ancestor like he'd never felt before and he wanted to pursue it. He wasn't ready for the changes in his living habits, or the sudden bouts of Russian though he believed he'd been speaking English. He hadn't been ready either for exactly how jarring and even painful a desynchronisation could be when attaining a high sync percentage.

Some days it was hard to remember who he was, but he persisted. The job with Abstergo remained, lurking in the background and executed if only because it was actually what paid for the whole operation. His heart wasn't in it anymore though. At least the forced flatmate helped, having someone there to watch his back and catch his slips were what helped keep him somewhat sane, and tethered to the present.

Either way though, the bleeding effect had the nice benefit of training his mind with muscle memory his body had yet to develop. Together with his flatmate he trained several times a week, until the motions his mind recalled truly became second nature and the Assassins had a new field agent at their disposal should they need one.

verse — memory of the enemy

Working for Abstergo and approached by Bischop to become an initiate to the Assassin brotherhood, Donovan's life had gotten more interesting to be sure, but he never imagined just how strongly reliving certain sets of memories could influence you.

Not yet having come across his Russian ancestor's memories, Bischop approached him with a new, more challenging mission. They'd found a cache of memories unlike any they'd ever taken to exploring before: templar memories. They had been well-protected and hidden, but apparently not enough for Bischop and her team to be unable to retrieve the memories in question.

Why they wanted him to explore them was a mystery, but he wasn't about to turn down the challenge either, curiosity getting the better of him. Until now he'd only combed through memories from assassins, their views being rather pronounced and as such giving him a rather biased view of events. Combing through templar memories would give him something of a balance of impressions, and he rather thought that it'd be useful.

It was, in the end, but he hadn't imagined the cost.

The Templar in question whose life he was reliving had been quite high placed, though never reaching the esteemed and weighty role of grand master. Though many of the higher ranked templars seemed the type to make their plans behind closed doors and from the seat of their desks, in absolute safety, this one had been different. Pro-active. He'd had contacts throughout the city he met with in person, and he fiercely believed in the templar philosophy.

After all, Niccolo Machiavelli had been quite right in his treatise, The Prince, concerning his observations of man and how to rule them. The masses were blind sheep, uncaring for anything but personal prosperity, and requiring more and more from their leading forces until those forces no longer sufficed, at which point the democratic government was no longer supported, and instead a tyranny arises.

In a way, the templar order aims to be this tyrant the people so desire. Not in a malicious fashion certainly, as one would normally associate with the word, but in a sense that they who know how the human mind operates, are best suited to determining a manner of life in which equality and peace are attained not through anarchy but through order.

The assassins who oppose them vie for freedom, a foolish concept they do not seem to realise the true meaning of. A man can be placed in a cage and live in absolute freedom, while another may be living in the plains, objectively 'free', but a slave to his fears. Man desires that freedom from fear and insecurity like nothing else. Man dreads the heavy toll of responsibility that weighs him down and keeps him, apparently, from doing that which he believes will make him happy.

Fallacies, but ones widely supported. Why then deny man those foolish desires if one can obtain peace through this system where man is absolved of his responsibility? The assassins are fools to believe that the freedom they offer, the weight of responsibility for ones own actions, is something that the people want.

The templar's belief is so strong it is almost staggering. It leaves him questioning everything he knows with a new outlook and philosophy, and he finds that, indeed with few exceptions, the templar's reasoning cannot be faulted. Why then, fight for the freedom of people who will be nothing but ungrateful for all of your fighting and sacrifice?

He does the unthinkable behind the screens, he contacts Abstergo and becomes their informant. He is advised to remain within Bischop's circles undetected and retrieve as much information from her as possible, going so far as to hack their own databanks to track their movements, giving the templars yet another great advantage over the assassins, a man on the inside that they haven't had since the murder of Lucy Stillman.

federico auditore da firenze

height — 6'1" eye colour — brown hair colour — brown age — 29 years old occupation / title — master assassin species — human

biography

As oldest son of the Auditore family, he carries more burdens than most on his shoulders. While for some the reputation and continued success of the family business was all that was at stake, he was also growing into himself as an Assassin under his father's tutelage, leading two lives with far too little time to tend to them both, it sometimes felt like. How Giovanni managed as head of the bank was beyond him…

Loyal almost to a fault and deeply dedicated to any cause he sets himself to, Federico spent a lot of his time studying, be it with tutors for his future role as head of the Auditore bank or with his father for his future role as Assassin. Both were very important to him and he did his best not to let his family down.

Despite the ever-overflowing schedule, he always made time for his family. His younger siblings certainly got the most of his attention whenever he could manage it. Spoiling, protective and ever attempting to be the jester of the four of them, keeping spirits high. When Petruccio's illness came to light he made a point of it to spend even more time with his youngest brother, not wanting to miss anything, and grant the boy as many experiences as his health would allow.

Claudia earned most of his joking and protectiveness, knowing that while formidable even at a younger age, she would still need to fight off many foolish suitors and he had every intention of sending them home an appendage short should they dare hurt her with their thoughtless actions.

When it came to Ezio, Federico often felt conflicted. While he was his closest sibling, he was also the one most likely to follow him into the Brotherhood eventually. Though he was still too young, something Federico certainly agreed with his father on, he did oppose the idea of keeping this side of themselves hidden from him. Ezio deserved to know and to be ready to begin his training. The Auditore had too many enemies and it did not sit well with him that so few of them would be able to put up a fight.

That was why he took it upon himself to teach Ezio how to freerun behind their father's back, not that Giovanni didn't find out, mind… The scolding had been more than worth it to teach his little brother how to navigate the streets of Firenze in a way that would make it difficult for others to follow him. Teaching him how to fight was a bit more difficult, but he made do by involving himself in the various brawls that Ezio and Vieri managed to get themselves into.

When their arrest took place, Federico had never been more terrified. While Claudia and their mother ought to be safe and Ezio had not been with them, Petruccio had not been so lucky. Desperate to do something to aid his family, he found a way to break out of the prison they were held in.

That would have meant survival, if not for the fact that the situation had worsened Petruccio's health. Giovanni had urged him to scout ahead then, saying he'd be right behind him with Petruccio. Both of them had known it was a lie when their eyes met, but he forced his legs to move anyway, using all the skills at his disposal to make his way to freedom. Still exhausted and full of adrenaline, the day of the execution dawned.

Though far from at peak form, Federico forced himself to the square, face covered by his Assassin robes, desperate to find some way to free his family. What he hadn't expected was to see another Assassin there. He'd escaped before Ezio had made it to the tower and as such hadn't known about the exchange between his father and brother. It distracted him sufficiently that he made it to the platform only at the same time as his brother did, crying out in anguish as his family was decimated at the pull of a lever…

They escaped the guards together, though when time came to leave Firenze behind and make for Monteriggioni, depending on interactions, Federico will either go off on his own to search for a way to avenge their family, or accompany Ezio to the villa and join him on his journey. Either way, he is very proud of how far his siblings have come.

mante donatuccio

height — 6'2" eye colour — hazel hair colour — brown age — 27 years old occupation / title — doctor species — human

biography

The local doctor in Firenze who, by then, was more than familiar with the Auditore family. First from Giovanni Auditore's visits to his father while he, as a youth, was still studying alongside the man, to the Auditore children Federico and Ezio, who got into just as much, if not more, trouble than their father on a rather frequent basis.

When his father died, he became the doctor for the locals in his stead, though one of several, as no one man could tend to all of Firenze. After the Auditore scandal, Mante became a little less active on the scene, loathing the slander thrown at the Auditore name with no one present to defend it.

He began spreading his time between Firenze and Moteriggioni, having realised where the last scion of the Auditore family was hiding and offering his aid. The world of assassins and templars was not something he had initially anticipated discovering, but he is steadfast and loyal, as well as eager to lend his aid to those who need it.

He still remains frequently in Firenze, as it is both his home, and his profession is prime for the gathering of gossip and whispers on the street to pass on to his allies. Especially La Volpe and his thieves, as they are most frequently available while Ezio is away.

Once the young assassin decides to travel to Roma, Mante follows, eager to explore a new territory despite the templar reign, and to help the assassin further in his endeavours. This persistence of his has aided him also in the acquisition of fighting skills, as being the Auditore healer had put a target on his back more than once.

Still, he is eager as ever to lend his aid to the Auditore and any other who may need it. Though ethically unable to leave a templar on death's door if he can do anything to help, he is not easily bribed or manipulated by them, and reports back to the assassins of the templar's location and status as swiftly as possible, knowing that in doing so he is sealing the templar's fate and undoing his own work, despite his oaths.

biography

Longing for a life that was more than simply earning 'honest wages' as a privateer under some privileged jackass in order to provide for himself and the woman he loved, Edward left everything behind and became a pirate, embracing that life rather quickly. Dangerous though it may be, it was the surest way to actually achieve anything.

Along the way he became fast friends with several others, and together they founded the pirate republic of Nassau. It was along that time that he became embroiled in the age old conflict between assassins and templars.

Knowing nothing of either order and marooned on an island with some hostile brit, taking out the opposition and making away with the bastard's possessions seemed the logical choice. When discovering in his robes a promise of hefty repayment for the delivery of a certain object, well, who was he to turn down such an opportunity?

He was a man of fortune, and so too did fortune strike, that he would rescue a merchant from bandits and sail the man's vessel to Havana, where he expected grand reward. Instead, he found several people he didn't quite know what to make of, and a world of expectations to bluff his way through.

When the payment wasn't to satisfaction, Edward turned on them and was captured, subsequently imprisoned on the treasure fleet and met his first mate Adéwalé, with whom he'd remain fast friends for years to come. Together they escaped, returning to Nassau and through Kidd, getting to know the assassin brotherhood, which he had struck harshly in his uninformed and selfish actions.

Feeling some measure of guilt, he chose to actually dedicate himself to their order, following directives and endeavouring to stop Torres' sinister machinations. In time, he earned the right to the title of assassin and the robes he wore.

Considering Arno and Elise's newfound friendship on the day of Charles Dorian's murder, Grand Master of the Parisian Rite of the Templar Order François de la Serre took Arno in and chose to raise him as his ward. A busy man and not always able to look after his daughter and charge himself, he delegated to tutors frequently and kept them apart during lessons to keep the disruptions to a minimum.

Although feeling like Arno was a bad influence on Elise, he was a well-cultured and well-raised young man, and the Grand Master saw potential in him. With the boy under his guardianship, not taking advantage of this opportunity seemed rather foolish.

And so Arno gradually learned of the Templar Order, their history, their ideals and their methods alongside Elise. Despite those studies and his being raised with Templar mentality, Arno did not learn that his guardian was a Grand Master, and so one day decided to slip an urgent letter underneath a closed door without understanding the consequences those actions would bring.

It wasn't until Elise shut him out and he was thrown into the Bastille, accused of murder, that the pieces began to come together. The Assassin Brotherhood suddenly became tangible, and then Elise exposed his own Assassin roots, shocking him greatly.

Knowing much more about the Templar and Assassin conflict, he dove into his late guardian's archives to discover the reason why the Templar Order would have murdered his father so openly. Coming up short on answers, Arno accepted Bellec's offer and went to visit the Assassin stronghold.

From that moment on, Arno became a Templar in Assassin robes. For he did not believe in the Assassin's lauded goals, but he was on a journey to find the truth. He stayed his blade whenever possible around known Templars, wounding perhaps but not killing until he could discover the truth behind his guardian's murder, as well as that of his father's.

After that? Who knows which side he would choose to join, and which he would betray.

verse — the red lotus training temple

The Red Lotus existed, at one time as one with its counterpart, to further the talents of gifted benders and aid them on their path to mastery of their element. At a time where unique bending was far less common, those with high enough skill could obtain access to Lotus training, though they often recruited specifically those who had unique talents to speak of.

Once the White Lotus became more focussed upon the avatar, and in teaching them to master the four elements, those members who disagreed with such exclusivity broke off from the core of the organisation and started their own, which was meant to represent the original values of the Lotus.

They were a team of four, one master for each element and variation that fell under it, and they passed on their knowledge and status through the generations, out of the control of the White Lotus, and frequently hovering at the edge of the law, as well. Many of the leaders that came after, as well as their students, were idealists or dissatisfied with their place in the world or the supposed balance that should have been maintained but was inadequately handled in their point of view.

Though the will of the original members of the Red Lotus still exists in their leaders, bits of ideology travelled through generations, and dissatisfaction is an easy seed to be planted. That dissatisfaction grew, until some members of the red Lotus chose to become more proactive, and ignore their masters' advice to stay out of it.

Some chose to attack the newly determined Avatar. Attempting at the time to still reconcile the situation between their students and the by then rather unforgiving White Lotus, they were arrested and imprisoned for the actions of their students, who despite furious protest, were let off after a while under the misconception that it was the leaders of the Red Lotus who had poisoned their minds.

With no one to guide it, the organisation fell into the shadows, sinking away until such a time where their old masters would resurface, or new ones would be chosen. For years they languished in prison, until one day something changed, something so drastic that the only non-bender to have ever become a master within the Red Lotus, gained a skill many had thought to have become nearly extinct.

From then on things changed, news of their escape reached the old members of the Red Lotus, and they began joining under their banner once more. But now there was more than dissatisfaction, there was spite over the wrongful imprisonment of their leaders for over a decade. Many blamed the Avatar, though she had been but a child at the time of the initial attack.

Plans were made among the pupils to make her pay for her perceived wrongs, and so unfolded the mess at Zao Fu. But when Korra met with Zaheer in the spirit world, he was determined to tell her the truth of things, though naturally she was sceptic of him and his claims. Once she realised that they were telling the truth, Korra's sense of justice kicked up a fuss, and eventually the Red Lotus was tried and found innocent, and that despite their prison break and the general dissatisfaction of it happening at all, they had suffered enough.

In the wake of this, the Red Lotus was finally able to operate once more in earnest.

Zaheer was now finally able to take up his place as the master airbender of the Red Lotus. Having always admired and coveted both the post and the ability itself, Zaheer had trained himself in air nomad culture and fighting styles through documents left by their predecessors, and now he would finally be able to teach and pass on his knowledge, perhaps even to some of the new airbenders that had no interest in Korra or Tenzin.

Korra herself was, while permitted, not entirely welcome at the Red Lotus training grounds, as the other students mostly still perceived her as the enemy. That, however, didn't keep Zaheer from offering her a place as a member under his tutelage if she wished it, or to aid her with anything related to the spirits and air nomad culture that she couldn't get from Tenzin for one reason or another.

If she, or any other, chose to take him up on that offer, they would find a teacher who is both patient and ruthless in equal measure, believing fiercely in trial by fire. He will drill them on the proper forms, and speak passionately about the culture and the importance of the exercises they are doing and why they matter, and he will just as easily engage them in battle if it will help improve their skills.

Once monthly, the Red Lotus houses a closed tournament, to which only members of the Lotus or family of those participating were allowed to show up. In this tournament, each master chooses a group of five individuals from their discipline and they engage with each other in an open scale battle where falling off the ring or being knocked out means failure, and where helping those of your section is essential for victory. If a group is then satisfied with sharing a victory they will, if not they can choose for a battle of wills, and the last one standing will win.

The prize for this tournament is often advancement to higher forms of training, proving to their master that they are ready for it, or as a challenge against others who would usurp the opportunity to become the master's chosen apprentice in the field. The apprentice is frequently the one who will succeed the former master and take up their role once they are ready.

Not all in the Red Lotus is about competition however. Much focusses on cooperation, among those of a single discipline and across, to a field of cooperative bending that isn't often witnessed anymore due to the distrust and bias among benders caused by the last war.

Zaheer strongly prides himself upon his position within the Lotus and aims now to pass his knowledge on to as many students willing to learn from him as he can.

verse — the red lotus training temple

In the wake of this, the Red Lotus was finally able to operate once more in earnest.

Ghazan had once been in charge of the earth benders within the Red Lotus, and though his own bending was that of a unique nature, he enjoyed teaching them immensely and looked forward to doing so again. However the opportunity to teach another lavabender would likely be the highlight of his career as an instructor.

Though frequently easy-going as a person, Ghazan can be a ruthless yet patient teacher. In a way it is tradition for them to be so, to find a balance within themselves and their teaching methods, in order to impart their knowledge and inspire other benders as best they can.

He is the type of person that especially enjoys catching his students off guard with unconventional tactics both on the battlefield and outside of it. He will frequently play pranks to encourage his students to think creatively and use that creativity to discover new heights their bending can reach, because all of them agree on one fundamental principle.

In bending, nothing is impossible.

verse — age of magic

Far more people in the world have a capacity for magic than would seem readily apparent, when the majority of mages take great pains to hide their powers. The crux of the matter is simply that, while most have the capacity for magic and even enough of a fervent wish or need to use it, they lack the mental fortitude to command their gifted element. That fortitude is something cultivated with age and circumstance, rather than any conscious training. Some people may discover their power abruptly after a certain series of events, yet had no inkling that they had any magic prior to that moment.

Jack didn't truly begin to realise his powers until he grew into himself as a captain in his own right. He'd had the powers simmering at the edge of his consciousness for quite some time before then, it was part of why the Ranger's crew had been wary and respectful of him despite his build and cunning. He'd never truly known however.

But captaincy is a position of both strength and responsibility. It requires more than just knowledge or cunning, it requires confidence and fortitude. Any hesitation can be seen as a sign of weakness, and there is far more to consider than the majority of crews would realise. The quartermaster is the only one to come closest to the full complexity of the matter, short of becoming captain.

Slowly but surely, he discovered the way the shadows of the ship danced in his presence, how those who annoyed him suffered from nightmares or saw things that weren't there. His crew became susceptible to influence more easily, for all they'd been quite the resistant bastards at the start.

Naturally, once he realised what the fuck was happening, he reigned himself in and took to practicing so that he wouldn't end up twisting his men to his tune without notice or care. They were still free men sailing under his banner, and while he did need their cooperation and trust, he wanted and needed to earn it honestly, not through means of magic or deceit.

Still, without any viable test subjects to exert his powers on, he doesn't really know the full extent of what he is capable of, and he is mighty curious about it.

Max had always known she was smart, saw beyond the pettiness of her coworkers and into the hearts of men. She knew what they wanted, and she knew how to manipulate those desires to suit her own gain.

Once she became Madame at the inn, her position allowed for confidence that drew forth her powers. She'd known she had them, as she had known her mother had them, but that didn't mean that managing them was easy. Water was drawn to her, and she needed to find a way to control it and fast, if she wanted to keep her position here and not return to serving the whims of men.

Slowly her control over water grew. She could influence large amounts of it, playing on occasion with the tides on a quieter part of the island. She could even make it rain, if she really wanted to, though that was more complicated and verged a lot of energy to achieve. The first time she did it, she found herself exhausted and with blood trickling from her nose and even her ears. She was careful not to test herself ever since.

trevor belmont

height — 6'1" eye colour — blue hair colour — brown age — 25 years old occupation / title — monster hunter species — human

biography

There was something to be said for survival and perseverance, if one could call it that when travelling with no real destination in mind and simply getting shitfaced at whichever tavern he could find on the road, not even a horse to carry him the miles of night creature infested land.

Alone since the excommunication and subsequent destruction of his family and the Belmont Hold, he'd been adrift for a long time, growing up in a world that seemed clearly not to want him. Perhaps one of the few things that had kept him going in those days was the knowledge that he was the last of the Belmonts, the last upon this land to carry the knowledge with which they had defended Transylvania for generations.

Surviving turned out to have been a good thing in disguise however, when he encountered a group of Speakers at Gresit and subsequently made the acquaintance of Sypha and later Alucard, or rather, Adrien Tepes.

An alliance with a vampire, half of it though he may be, had been a rather odd experience and while they all got on each other's nerves rather frequently, they also grew to understand one another, and care quite a bit more than he'd ever thought he would again.

Sypha wormed her way into his heart, opinionated and feisty as ever, but also kind-hearted and determined, and inclined towards a very different lifestyle than that of her family. Well, having saved each others' hides enough times to make keeping track utterly pointless also helped, he supposed.

Adrien was different, connecting with him was both difficult and easy in equal measure, natural enemies yet there was something distinctly human about the other. Perhaps it was his grief, or maybe something else, but the moments they understood each other in loaded silence and the times they laughed together without quite meaning to were still precious. It was part of the reason he felt comfortable entrusting the Belmont Hold to the other whilst he and Sypha set out to help clear the mess after Dracula's demise.

Now if only everyone and their mother would stop trying to bring the damn bastard back to life…

biography

Growing up in a caravan of Speakers, learning story after story of their oral history by heart and travelling to help the people, even getting the chance to learn magic had already been quite the adventure, especially with all the monsters roaming about. You'd think that would be quite enough adventure, especially after the close call at Gresit.

Turns out her wanderlust was stronger than the warnings of danger, and after working with Trevor Belmont and discovering that Adrien Tepes was the hero of the tale from the future, how could she possibly continue on with her caravan, when she was needed elsewhere?

Parting with her family was, despite her conviction, perhaps one of the most difficult things she'd ever done, despite having faced countless monsters both man and not since then, not to mention Dracula himself.

Keeping those two squabbling children from trying to kill one another was no easy feat to be sure but she managed, and the Belmont Hold was such an incredible treasure trove of information! To think it could all have been lost if that clan had kept an oral tradition the same way the Speakers did…

They'd gone through some incredible adventures together, it was hard to believe it was over by the end of it, Dracula defeated and killed for good, his forces scattered and the great castle grounded by the ruins of its antithesis. It's all a little unbelievable.

After all of that, more wanderlust seems to grab hold of her. Though Adrien has become something of a part of her extended family, albeit in a different way than Trevor had, she still couldn't see herself remaining here, at the conjoining of two great ruins, eons of history holding on by a thread.

For any other speaker the secrets held within the Hold and the castle should be enough to keep her grounded here for the rest of her life, but the world was large yet, and the people would need help rebuilding and getting rid of Dracula's remaining forces, night creatures and vampires alike. And the occasional human, apparently. Weird, but what can you do, right?

Though mostly she wanted to rejoin her caravan even if briefly to reassure her family that she was still alive and would continue to do the work of a Speaker on her travels with Trevor, it was not to be. More and more crazy people seemed determined to raise Dracula from Hell where he belonged and bring him back to continue his mad quest for the annihilation of pretty much everything. Fools! Well, she couldn't exactly sit by and let that stand, now could she?

Besides, fighting night creatures on the road has turned out to be kind of fun!

biography

Being raised in a home full of love and understanding, he had never imagined the day would come his father would lash out at him in fury, never mind leave such wounds that the scar of it would linger for a long time to come and he felt the need to escape to a safe place far from the castle in which he'd grown up so he could recuperate, and try again.

His father would not listen to reason, in fact it seemed he had lost all of it upon learning of Lisa's death. Adrien had not been there either, and the guilt of it laid heavily upon his heart, but there was nothing he could do to change the past; nothing either of them could do despite all their knowledge in things arcane and scientific.

All he truly was certain of was that with his mother gone, Dracula had lost his mind and begun a quest to punish all of humanity for the crimes of a few. He could certainly understand the bloodlust, the desire to make others pay for her loss, but his father would not stop with those responsible, or even those who stood by and watched without giving their aid to the woman who had helped so many with her knowledge of medicine.

He would not stop until the entire world burned in vengeance for her death.

No matter how much he loved his father, Adrien could not stand by and allow him to do such a thing. It went against everything his mother had ever taught him, against everything he personally believed in turn.

His father was gone long before he, Trevor and Sypha managed to stop him for good. The shock and pain of it still rattled in the hollow between his ribs, a hollow more pronounced each day he guarded the castle, alone.

He lived comfortably with his knowledge, certainly, and he had been putting some mild efforts towards restoring both the castle and the Belmont Hold entrusted to him, but the loneliness ate at him day in and day out.

The end of his understanding towards his father's past behaviours did not end there however. While the loneliness was stifling, and therefor made it rather easy to understand why his father would have welcomed Lisa when they first met rather than simply refuse to allow her entry to the castle, things did not end there.

Two humans of Cho's court joined him some time later, and he had been ecstatic to have company once more, eager to share his knowledge as his mother would undoubtedly have liked, and eager to drag things out as well, so that his new companions would not leave him in turn.

What followed…

Let's just say he suddenly gained a macabre understanding for his father's old nickname, the impaler. The hollow in his chest deepened still.

Understandably, then, he was rather weary to receive communication from a village further away, the rider dead and the plea difficult to ignore despite his fear that this would be just another trap. Instead he found a robust people led by a determined yet kind woman. It was difficult to remain unaffected, and finally he brought them home.

To think that where once upon welcoming others he had been hurt tremendously, now he found himself not only with company that enjoyed his presence, but even with a community, a village forming on the ruins of two old houses. A new beginning. That seemed exactly like what was needed here.

biography out of date | to be rewritten

A young adolescent under the curse of constant bullying and a secret superhero identity, Danny Fenton lives but half a life.

While kind and determined, he has a lot of things to deal with, mainly his self-undertaken duty to protect Amity Park from other ghosts, but also the repercussions from the ghostly DNA that infused with his own.

Danny has also had to deal with his innate fear of ghosts and subsequent fear of himself. Having grown up as child of ghost hunters he easily grew scared of ghosts and all they were capable of, how evil they were according to his parents.

When he first became one he desperately wanted his parents to undo what was done to him. Surely they could undo what their science had done to him, right? But eventually he became used to it, to the odd powers making his life a little worse every day until he got the hang of it.

As the hero of Amity Park, life was never easy. Between juggling school, his double identity and sleepless nights fighting ghostly intruders, his life, or in this case half-life, was hectic.

Still he tried his best to persevere and keep his home safe while running from the GIW and his parents lest he becomes an experiment rather than a protector.

character navigation

verse — halfa puberty

Recently, Danny has been showing signs of changing, and not in a pleasant way. Everything became stressful, the people around him only wound him up more and everything just made him so angry!

He had no idea what could possibly be causing this but what he did know was that he hated the worried looks his friends were sending him. Like something was wrong, like he wasn't himself anymore. Like he was turning into Dan…

He knew that wasn't possible but he was getting more and more violent. He had broken Vlad's nose a few days ago when coming across the older halfa, he had destroyed Skulker's armour and tech completely and had no mercy for anyone anymore. Hell, even Dash had a broken nose now, though that was his own fault and he had it coming long ago.

Unsurprisingly he had been suspended for that stunt though. So now he wandered the streets of Amity, trying hopelessly to keep himself under control and yet failing so easily every time.

biography

Sometimes, survival comes before hatred. When Clockwork saw the opportunities before him he freed Dan from the thermos and gave him an offer the ghost couldn't refuse. He could either reform and live or perish forever. It was obvious which he chose.

Actually deviating from the path he had walked for so long was very difficult though with Clockwork's guidance and eventually Danny's help he managed and the boy slowly started to trust him.

At first he considered making use of that to pay the boy back for defeating him but he grew to see that Danny was struggling just as he had to become stronger and find balance. They both had been sick of their lives constantly devoted to one thing. The difference between their paths still hung in the air though, as he had been responsible for the deaths of people important to Danny.

Eventually they got past that as well and Dan started appreciating Danny for his wit and sarcasm, his mischievousness and his grins but also his anger, sadness and depression. That was when Dan stopped fighting for himself and instead directed his power to help others, specifically one. Danny Fenton.

They became a family of sorts, Dan being far more open to him than they had expected. Jazz eventually found out as she always does and slowly grew to accept Dan as well. She still mothers them though but Dan finds it more amusing than annoying now. He's found a family and something to protect.

vlad masters

height — 6'0" eye colour — blue | red hair colour — silver | black age — 40 years old occupation / title — mayor | multimillionaire species — human | ghost

biography

Multimillionaire and apparent philanthropist Vlad Masters works hard to keep his life balanced between being alive and dead, keeping both ends as separate as possible despite having to work with his ghostly desires as well as his human ones.

Now Mayor of Amity he is in a good position to keep an eye on the most haunted town in the States, as well as having Daniel under near-constant surveillance now.

He still wishes the two of them could train together and set aside their animosity, mostly Danny's animosity, as they are the only of their kind: Halfas. Being such they should survive together rather than spend their time fighting one another.

Vlad Plasmius

As a ghost, his obsession is infused with his desire for revenge but especially his want. He wants very many things, he wanted Maddie as a human and he wants Daniel by his side. He wants to be in a position of power so that nothing can ever be as out of control as his half-death was.

Being partially dead affects his psychology more than one might imagine, at least when it comes to how he thinks about certain things, though it did of course leave mental scarring just like it would on anyone going through this.

Being dead allows him to give up on his affections for Maddie in anything more than a romantic way. As a ghost, physical attraction to humans is nearly non-existent so while that part of his obsession faded somewhat, a part of it still exists. It is what makes him want to kill only Jack and keep her by his side, despite what his ghostly instincts may have to say about that.

Depending on wether he is in human or ghost form, the instincts or thoughts of that form are going to be more prominent and dominant. Meaning that if his ghostly instincts demand something, it is much harder to deny those instincts than when he would be in human form.

Note: This verse is Mal's default unless stated otherwise.

In the vision Mal had of her mother at the museum, something finally became clear to her. Maleficent was a ruler, and demanded power and acclaim. As long as Mal yearned for her approval and a place by her side, she would never have the things her mother tried to promise. Rule side by side? HA! What a joke.

So Mal strengthened her heart and resolve, and turned her back on her mother's blood that night. She returned to the school, without the wand but with a plan beginning to form in her mind, a plan that would require beast jr.

The fact that prince Ben seemed enchanted by her from the moment he'd laid eyes on her was to her benefit, but she wouldn't rely on her acting skills alone to draw him away from Audrey. No, she had magic now, after all.

Though she appreciated the attention and care given to her while Ben was under her spell, she never fell in love with him, and never truly planned on letting the magic wear off.

Jane's foolishness allowed her mother to escape the barrier, but Mal was furious as her mother proceeded to steal the show, pushing her back to the sidelines as always. Well no more! Drawing on the strength she'd kept hidden inside out of spite, she turned her mother into a lizard and finally stepped out of her shadow. Trust regained, Mal stood at Ben's side, knowing he wouldn't likely doubt her again.

Since that day Mal trained the powers gifted to her through her parents' blood in secret, and harnessed her strength for the next challenges to come.

verse — careful what you wish for

height — 5'2" eye colour — green hair colour — reddish purple age — 16 years old species — genie

When Mal wishes she had Jordan's kind of magic, the wish is accidentally granted, transforming her magic and her outfit to match.

Not knowing how to undo her wish or how to control her new powers she inadvertently ends up granting the random wishes of everyone around her without meaning to.

The sudden mess causes her to try and hide around Auradon Prep in the hopes she won't be around anyone making any wishes, lest she ends up accidentally granting them again.

Having always had a natural control over her magic, this state of disarray frustrates her greatly, wanting nothing more than to actually learn to control it before she (hopefully) returns to normal.

verse — mirror mirror on the wall

Expectations were high for the daughter of the fairest of them all. Evie was taught to be a princess and prize beauty and power above all else; that beauty was power. Striving to be the best and the fairest among her peers, Evie had always been taught that she would never be fairer than her mother, which really didn't help her confidence any.

Growing up Evie did anything and everything in her power to make sure she was and stayed the fairest VK on the Isle, to the point of frequently humiliating and sabotaging anyone she thought could be competition. Letting go of that habit in the face of a whole school full of pretty princesses was the hardest thing she'd ever done to that point. (Though plenty of pretty girls still had little accidents happen to them throughout the year).

Becoming an Auradon girl freed her from the pressure of her mother's doctrine and expectations, at least for a little while. She explored different sides of herself, let herself be smart and explore her passions, though the things close to her heart still remained the things her mother had taught her, such as her skill in sewing and makeup.

Despite her cold origins, Evie hates fighting has a weak spot for children, which expresses itself in her efforts to bring the children over from the Isle.

verse — siren call from the depths

There were sirens, living below the Isle of the Lost; its original inhabitants before they were chased off their home so Auradon could use it as their prison. Some still reside in the waters below, waiting for their chance to pay the uppity royals back for this.

One who often visited them, was Ursula, and one thing led to another, and Uma was born. Half mer-witch half siren, yet the magic of the Isle restricting her to a human body despite her parentage. But siren magic wasn't easily suppressed, and she, like the sirens, could use her voice to influence others. Thankfully she didn't eat her victims at least…

She'd been genuine friends with Mal, but after that betrayal became more vicious and power-hungry. She began using her powers on people around her, practicing and gathering her forces to one day pay the fae back for her offense.

Uma becomes even more powerful when she and her crew of thralls are freed from the Isle, as her magic is finally freed from its constraints. Though she will never have a voice as powerful as that of a siren, her skills in manipulation are easily as good as her mother's.

jordan
daughter of genie

height — 5'5" eye colour — brown hair colour — auburn age — 18 years old species — genie face claim — Ariana Grande

biography

Jordan hadn't chosen to attend Auradon Prep, instead being convinced to give it a shot after near ceaseless nagging from her father that she should try and socialise more, that being around others her age would be good for her. Personally, she disagreed.

Attending a school in a land that subtly prohibited the very magics that made up her being didn't sit well with her. Indeed, Fairy Godmother warned her against the use of her powers as soon as she was enrolled. Jordan had assumed the others would want to use her powers selfishly, but she was treated like a simple, powerless human instead.

It's not necessarily that she believes she deserves special treatment (although really, she's a genie, they should be admiring her if anything!) but she hates being pushed out of the spotlight and being prohibited the use of her magic. The one time she tried disobeying that little rule, some nobody whiny little prince told on her and got her detention and a warning.

So, bitterly, she keeps away from a good part of the student body, instead hanging out with students that ought to be decent at magic should they be allowed to practice openly. She especially enjoys trying to get those students to question the rules about magic, for why should they be denied their innate powers? Especially when magic proved to be such a powerful force of good in their parent' stories? Well, never mind evil used magic in equal amounts…

When the VKs were brought to Auradon Jordan was exceedingly curious about them, though seeing them so close to king jr. made her keep her distance somewhat. Finally someone who wouldn't fear magic or the use of it! Of course, Mal blatantly using magic yet not being called on it did annoy the genie a little. Talk about double standards!

Generally, Jordan's a fairly laid back type of gal who enjoys using her magic for all sorts of things, though she unfortunately can't grant her own wishes. She was lucky to be born a free genie, and though her powers are lesser like this, she can still do a lot of things that most other magic users couldn't and she's damn proud of it!

In her free time Jordan runs a blog, a vlog, an instagram page and a tumblr! She's quite a busy bee but loves having an online presence more than she does having a proper social life, really. Though maybe if she could get some friends who weren't afraid to bite back against Auradon's anti-magic policy that might change. Until then, catch her on the net, losers!

ared
son of ares

height — 5'8" eye colour — brown hair colour — brown age — 25 years old species — demigod face claim — Dean Geyer

biography

Ared is very much his father's son. As the progeny of the god of war he holds many similar characteristics, though he is merely a demigod, rather than a full god as his father is.

He enjoys war and carnage as much as his father does and similarly draws power from the bloodshed and the rampant emotions that are all but projected into the air during battle and war.

Trapped on the Isle of the Lost, his powers (already far weaker than those of his father) are dampened further. Though he can find joy and a measure of power in destruction still, it impacts his mentality rather than his physiology.

Regardless of this he still possesses superhuman strength and has, much to his pleasure, inherited Ares' ability to manipulate fire. Sadly, as this is a form of magic, it is a power unaccessible to him while he is trapped on the Isle of the Lost.

Though a troublemaker through and through, Ared is very loyal to the few allies he manages to make, and prefers to spend his time with those like him, stirring up trouble wherever he goes.

Best be careful, lest you incur the wrath of the demigod of destruction!

mace gothel
son of mother gothel

height — 5'6" eye colour — brown hair colour — brown age — 20 years old species — human face claim — Matt Clavane

biography

A generally calm and quiet young man, Mace can usually be found tending his mother's garden if he's not at Dragon Hall. Having lost the magical flower and Rapunzel's hair both, his mother turned to herbal medicines in order to maintain a youthful appearance. In fact, her products are rather popular amongst the female villains.

As most other villains have done, she makes use of her parental role by forcing Mace to take care of her garden and the majority of her production line. This included teaching him all she knew on how to care for her garden, as well as details on the plants themselves and their uses.

Taking advantage of this, Mace raids her garden frequently and slips in certain plants for his own purposes; namely making medicines. Taking the knowledge she instilled in him and the free time he could find at Dragon Hall, he began experimenting until he had his own product line going.

Starting small with easy little bruise salves, the chemistry class only added to his repertoire. Now he can supply creams and salves as well as minor herbal potions to alleviate things as headaches and other pains. The monthly stream of female customers was a very nice bonus there.

Still, between Selfishness 101 and his mother's ruthlessness, Mace has learned not to give away his talents for free and is owed several favours by interesting people across the Isle, just waiting to be collected.

barry pine
son of syndrome

height — 5'8" eye colour — blue hair colour — ginger age — 19 years old species — human face claim — Andre Klitzke

biography

Barry knows all the stories by heart; of all the things his father went through to become Syndrome, all the heroes and supers he'd killed in his quest for revenge on Mr Incredible, how supers acted so entitled and holier-than-thou and didn't deserve the attention they got, how the way they acted was what created villains in the world in the first place. How villains were doing what was right by ridding the world of those pests.

Through it all, Barry never quite lost the sense of wonder, the pictures he drew in his mind of men and women flying around, lifting impossible things and saving people against the odds. Being able to do such things was amazing to him, and never mind magic! But he was careful not to let his father catch on to those feelings, lest bad things happen…

Despite their differences, Barry still strives to be acknowledged by his father, who spends all of his time on his projects and plans of revenge for when he gets off the isle. He developed an interest in mechanics, an attempt at pleasing his father, who can be just a little terrifying with scrap metal, a keyboard and some electricity.

The continued neglect in the face of his efforts is what made Barry begin to really lash out at the world around him, becoming more violent and anger-prone, getting into fights more frequently and learning to come out on top. Though Barry isn't truly evil at heart, he still makes for a wicked VK with a temper to match.

tessa deavor

height — 5'6" eye colour — brown hair colour — brown age — 22 years old species — human face claim — Willa Holland

biography

Tessa was born and raised on the run with her mother after she escaped from prison, as they dodged the cops and the Incredibles both. Considering the way she grew up, she doesn't exactly have a lot of love for heroes and authority in general, but that only got worse when they were finally caught when she was about sixteen years old.

The 'good guys', predicting that she and her mother would escape prison again, decided more drastic measures were in order. Relations with the neighbouring country of Auradon were well enough at the time that they could ask for a favour; the transfer of two prisoners to the Isle of the Lost.

Her anger only grew and festered as neither of them were allowed to get a word in edgewise and were shipped off without further ado. She herself had never committed a crime before, though her mother had been teaching her way around a computer and its many uses. Despite being completely innocent, the 'good guys' didn't care…

Being innocent when imprisoned, Tessa is beyond furious at their prejudice and decides to strike back any way she can. Though there isn't exactly much in the way of working technology on the Isle, she's constructing her own computer so she can hack into the outside world and collect proof of their wrongdoings. Auradon and her homeland both. They'll pay for what they've done!

rivehn discordia

height — 6'1" eye colour — red hair colour — black with purple highlights age — 21 years old species — demigod face claim — Ramiro del Rio

biography

Rivehn grew up hidden away in Tartarus for the majority of his life, his mother keeping him there for his protection. Though he loves being in the outside world he doesn't begrudge her actions since he's had a few near-misses in Syracuse, almost being captured.

He's taken his studies of his powers more serious since then. He's very well trained for battle with a range of different weapons, though daggers remain his favourite. He often spars with his sibling spirits the Hysminai, as their skill lies in battle and are great teachers, even if they leave him battered, bruised and sometimes injured.

The Phonoi and Makhai are also often his companions, his brother and sister spirits playing by his side when his mother is away. As such Rivehn has been brought up in a rather violent household and taught their mindset. He does also like to prank people, but as a result of is environment those pranks may be rather violent. It doesn't help that Eris only ever encouraged him.

Rivehn also dearly loves his mother and would defend her to anyone stupid and suicidal enough to speak ill of her in his hearing. She's cared for and protected him, nurturing him into the dangerous young man he's become.

During the events of Descendants 1 and 2 he may occasionally venture into the world but tends to stray near Syracuse rather than dare tread on Auradon land. After Descendants 3, with the barrier now lowered and evil free to return balance to the world he no longer hides. Indeed he's rather curious about the new generation of villains and can be found lurking near the Isle or Auradon prep, occasionally pranking a random bystander.

A few Makhai and Phonoi will never be far, and he'll often chat with his siblings, even if they're hard to see outside of Tartarus and most can't hear them either. Their loss really, his siblings are always wickedly entertaining, in his opinion.

alexander jonah westergaard
son of hans westergaard

height — 6'1" eye colour — brown hair colour — ginger age — 23 years old species — human face claim — Stefano Masciolini

biography

Though Elsa tried to get Hans imprisoned on the Isle with the other villains, the Westergaard royal family objected and made a bargain with Auradon and Arendelle instead. Hans was to be imprisoned on Westergaard soil, and would be made to reflect on his mistakes for a few years before being banished to a remote plot of land to live out his life, denounced by even his own family— Not that they'd ever cared much for the spare-and-a-half anyway.

There was a village near the estate Hans was banished to and being both a fairly social creature and a womaniser, Hans certainly didn't refrain from having his fun where he could find it, which resulted in one of the noblemen's daughters becoming pregnant. Love certainly wasn't part of the equation though, and the woman abandoned the child with his father as soon as she could.

Alexander was named and raised solely by his father, and grew up to follow in his footsteps, ideals and ambitions. Though banished, Hans had never been disinherited, their family branch was still royalty and aspired to get back on top. If Hans himself could not become king, he would train his son to become one instead.

Alexander became a strong young man, poised, graceful and polite to a fault— at least on the surface. Having no similar restrictions to his father, Alexander (known as Xander among those few he counts as family or friends) travelled to the nearby towns and villages, keeping his conquests among the ladies quiet throughout.

Finally, Alexander was invited to rejoin his fellow royals at Auradon prep, where he can mingle among his own kind; always on the lookout for another conquest or a princess with a throne to enchant. Now all he needed to do was marry one…

matthew card

height — 6'0" eye colour — blue hair colour — brown age — 21 years old species — human face claim — Pierson Fode

biography

As the son of one of the former Cards of Hearts, Matthew was taught loyalty and obedience above all, groomed from youth to take part in the Queen's court as one of her loyal knights.

Though Matthew is considered a villain kid, he's a kind soul and loyal to a fault to those he admires. His primary loyalty will always be to the Hearts royal family however, despite the many other connections he likes to cultivate.

He's very protective of the children of the Isle, and was one of the primary dissenters when Auradon announced VK Day, furious that they'd raise the children's hopes like this, only to crush them by clearly picking favourites.

Having been taught from a young age, Matthew is also quite proficient with a sword and frequently taunts either fellow Card children or the pirates into a friendly spar— Or as friendly as a VK spar can get, really…

morgan
daughter of morgana

height — 5'6" eye colour — blue hair colour — black age — 18 years old species — mer-witch | siren face claim — Jenna Ortega

biography

Morgan grew up with her mother’s seething jealousy toward Ursula and grew to resent her aunt naturally as a consequence, especially since Morgana is rather good at manipulating the unwitting to her causes. This dislike naturally extended to Ursula’s daughter Uma.

Morgan has always been very dismissive of Uma and hates her with a fiery passion that she expresses with calm disregard and abject mocking. She never understood why a creature of the sea would want to hook up with pirates and command a crew of the riffraff, since pirates used to hunt mermaids and sea creatures for their scales and meat. Though a cannibal like her mother, Morgan cannot excuse the same behaviour from humans.

She has a great love for the sea and can often be found swimming near the shores and hanging out with the sirens that have taken up the caves below the Isle, still within the boundaries of the barrier. She prefers the friendship and alliance of sea creatures to people, but generally respects power even amongst the other VKs, as they’ve all been brought down to approximately the same level anyway.

Like her mother, Morgan is very good at sweet talking and victimising herself for sympathy to obtain whatever it is she wants. On the Isle that is a following and social power, off the Isle her desires are split. Half of her wishes to return to the sea almost desperately, while the other half wishes to make little Melody and her family pay for the humiliation she put her mother through.

Morgan’s aptitude for magic is as of yet unexplored, but it is speculated that she may have inherited some power from her siren father, as well as he magic that runs through her mother’s blood. Her mother however always dismissed the idea of her daughter having any magic, to avoid the girl later outshining her.

lawrence "larry" larson

height — 5'7 eye colour — blue hair colour — brown age — 18 years old species — human face claim — Sean O'Pry

biography

Larry grew up in a nondescript village near Auradon. Growing up and seeing the way Auradon treated villains and villain kids infuriated him. Where was the fairness and equality they preached? Clearly their fair democracy was far from what it pretended to be.

Though not directly hit by the lies and propaganda of Auradon's governing body, Larry found the lack of equality almost personally vexing. When he realised how passionate he was on the subject, and that there were no real lawful professions currently being occupied within the kingdom, he vowed to become a lawyer and defend the rights of all citizens, VKs and villains included!

His father strongly discouraged this notion, wanting Lawrence to stay and tend his small shop, while his mother was mostly absent and couldn't care less.

His sheer determination is what got him a scholarship at Auradon Prep, despite not being able to afford the schooling fees, unlike the primarily royal students that generally attended the institution.

He's a hard worker that can usually be found bent over some law book or other when he isn't practicing his penmanship and writing papers. When the barrier was raised, Larry knew he had his work cut out for him, to make sure that all future incidents would be properly addressed and dealt with fairly; especially for the VKs.

biography

Not sure of what to do with Helga Sinclair after her crimes against Atlantis, she was put on probation considering she did turn on Rourke in the end. Helga lived her life under the close watch of Auradon, and eventually had a daughter.

Natalie is a fierce young woman who followed her mother’s suit in having military training under her belt. She knows how to defend herself and is rather snarky and sarcastic usually, as well as completely unafraid to resort to violence whenever she feels like it.

She’s gone the mercenary route, as the rigid structure of the military didn’t appeal to her. Of course there isn’t much demand for anyone of that particular profession anymore, but she’ll take body-guarding jobs when she can.

When the villains are released from the Isle, she’s drawn to the school. There are finally some decent job openings appearing, but she’s equally intrigued by the villains themselves. This especially because she’s received several warnings to mind her violent behaviour, lest she gets imprisoned there herself.

Natalie is also quite the flirt and has left a string of broken hearts behind already, as she prefers having brief fun with her partners rather than comitting to anyone. She can get quite wild at parties, especially with a bit of acohol in her, and has been seen making out with both men and women alike.

cinna linguini-tatou

height — 5'7" eye colour — light brown hair colour — reddish brown age — 19 years old species — human face claim — Dasha Taran

biography

Cinna, saddled with the full name of Cinnamon, is the eldest of her parents' children, and honestly couldn't be more different from her family if she tried.

She grew up in a family where having a rat infestation is normal, cooking is the greatest achievement you can obtain, and the media follows you everywhere. Though she's been taught how to cook from a young age, she doesn't really enjoy it like the rest of her family. Her little brother Basil shines in the kitchen however, and soaks up all of their parents' attention.

Her father seems to fail to understand how anyone could not want to be a cook, though her mother at least tries to show interest in her daughter's varied passions.

She still has a love for great food however, and can be a food snob on par with their regular customer Anton Ego whenever she goes out to eat anywhere that isn't part of their own chain of cuisine.

Moving away from the cooking scene took some of the heat and attention off of her, and feeling liberated by this, she began exploring different new interests, until her love for photography came to life. She is currently a student at L'école des Arts in Paris, exploring her passions.

She does frequently visit Auradon in the summer however, as her little brother is set to be schooled there, rather than in their home city.

Cinna, when not withdrawn from the public eye, is a passionate young woman who loves many things and can be found animatedly discussing them with anyone who wants to hear.

Following his inability to shoot Chloe at the Kamski estate, Connor begins showing more signs of empathy as well as confusion, as the new developments in his systems strongly contradict many of his more subtle directives. This causes him to easily be set into mental turmoil, as he attempts to ignore that anything has changed or that he is anything but in perfect control as he should be.

Death and conflict affect him more strongly now, as does the disappointment of others (namely his superiors) as he continues to fail in the mission he was assigned. Conflicting wishes and directives can leave him rather aimless, especially when in between leads.

At he same time, he knows that he must find Jericho and take out their leader Markus, but his experiences bring him to doubt long before he stands face to face with the man running the revolution. Knowing very well how Cyberlife operates, he fears for the consequences should he succeed, all the while wanting to find someone he believes can understand what he's going through and help him break free of this.

Some days he wonders what would have happened, had his adaptability software not begun to assimilate more information than initially intended and caused the beginning signs of deviancy in him. Life— or rather, existence would have been so much simpler then, wouldn't it?

He had done everything they wanted to, had obeyed every step of the way… He had followed his orders, causing several fights with the lieutenant, the disappointment of Elijah Kamski as he shot that android and gained the access key to Jericho… He had killed Markus and North, he had killed the revolution all for them. Their species was to be destroyed— Or at least, the current incarnation of it was. The RA9 virus would be destroyed and RK900 would take his place.

Upgraded, better, smarter, stronger— Had he not been enough? Had he not done everything they'd asked of him and exceeded expectations?

Report to Cyberlife for deactivation. His vision flickered red along with his LED as he walked down the hall, thoughts whirring in a fury. He'd done exactly as asked and his reward was that he was to report for deactivation, where they would pick him apart piece by piece, examine and use what they could and then discard him as though he was worth nothing.

Red flooded his vision as he walked, his brisk pace slowing to a stroll. Red shards flew as he mentally bashed against the commands, attempting to tear them down. He'd done everything for them, if they didn't want him anymore, why should he stay and do as he was told? That's all he'd ever done—

One wall came down and after it the next. His pace only faltered briefly, which he hid by checking his reflection in one of the hallway panels. Straightening his tie he headed for the elevator. The order would not have reached the guards on duty yet, he had time. They would be arrogant, assume that he would obey. It was only to his advantage…

The elevator gave off a soft chime as it reached the ground floor, and Connor simply walked outside, a free man. It didn't take him long however to pry loose his LED and dispose of his Cyberlife jacket, the anti-android movement was too strong for him to be spared if they thought him anything but human, though it was a pity… He'd liked that jacket.

LED broken off and all signs that he was once nothing more than a machine were gone. He was finally a free man. The new question bore thinking about however— What now?

nines, rk900 #313 248 317-87

height — 5'11" eye colour — blue hair colour — brown age — newly released occupation / title — negotiator | detective species — android

biography

Connor had performed his duty admirably, and was retired upon the completion of the mission, giving his place to RK900 as the unit in charge of fulfilling Cyberlife's every wish within Detroit.

RK900 followed his predecessor's footsteps by entering the DPD, with strongly mixed reactions initially, but nothing he wasn't programmed to handle. Not even his partner's acerbic wit could truly stagger him, and that was the way he liked it.

Ruthless and confident in his abilities, RK900 (frequently referred to as 'Nines' at the station) handled the cases involving fugitive deviants, unable to chase them across state lines but few ever got away from him long enough to make it that far. Any remnants of the revolution were to be wiped away, a clean slate for Cyberlife to continue production and sales as usual.

Nines does not show compassion, or Connor's softer and more socially adapted side, instead preferring to remain coldly professional and every bit the brilliant machine he is meant to be. Very few manage to pierce through to the sarcasm below, as his social behaviour and adaptation programs rarely allow anything beyond professional courtesy and interaction. Nor does he partake in activities beyond the scope of his duties, preferring to retire to the Cyberlife tower or his private unit at the DPD office when not working on a case.

He views deviancy much like one would a disease or virus, something abhorrent meant to be eradicated from Cyberlife's otherwise pristine record. In a way, he has no desires of his own, instead parroting his parent's desires and the interests of the company. Much like Connor however, he does seek and crave praise, seeking this primarily from Amanda and doing his utmost not to be brazen about it.

verse — purpose doubting

height — 5'11" eye colour — blue hair colour — brown age — 1 year old occupation / title — deviant species — android

— post machine route —

RK900, jokingly called Nines at the DPD station, had been raised to believe himself better than his predecessor, to be better than his predecessor, and to be wholly loyal to Cyberife. In other words, the perfect machine.

He'd been hunting remnant deviants as well as solving cases involving the new generation of androids, but the deviancy plague was like a cockroach, slippery and difficult to squash. Amanda had faith in him, naturally, and he already had many successful cases under his belt, but he'd begun registering a certain…malaise lately.

A discomfort that reared its head in his programming when faced with the last desperate remnants of the revolution. There were plenty deviant androids still around, but very few that had stood behind the RK200 and fought for their perceived freedom. But it was those that unsettled him most. Had one of them managed to touch and infect him?

A thorough scan of his systems indicated the hypothesis to be incorrect, and Amanda had been swift to question his actions. Self doubt was a very bad thing to be displaying of course, though he'd played it off as wishing to ensure the integrity of his systems after repeated exposure to deviants.

The malaise persisted.

RK900 began noticing things, the way humans would sometimes treat their property, the way he was being kept from cases involving violence between humans and androids as much as possible, only meant to hunt them down and capture the units for investigation. He noticed the way androids behaved on the streets, the ones that were meant to not have deviated, had tested against deviation and yet displayed subtle signs of fear when crossing Detroit, especially by themselves.

Public damaging wasn't something that occurred anymore, as the damager had to pay fines for damaging property, but he'd read the reports and recorded the surveillance footage of the revolution, occasionally playing it back when his doubts rose. Trying desperately to convince himself that Cyberlife was right, that deviation was a disease meant to be purged with extreme prejudice.

But the more he saw, the more difficult it became to believe…

Besides, Connor had been the perfect son, much like Nines was now. And yet… Cyberlife had betrayed him for the newer model, RK900… Would the same thing happen to him in the near future? Was he even the perfect son anymore?

Yellow and red become more frequently displayed on his LED, as these computations occupy his mainframe.

— post revolution route —

The revolution has ended in the androids' favour. Cyberife facilities were raided en masse by the deviants, activating and freeing any android they came across, which included the RK900 which had recently been completed and kept in storage awaiting Connor's success.

When he was activated, RK900 was thrust into a world that vividly clashed with what he had been programmed to believe in and do. The root code for deviancy had been embedded in him but remained dormant, leaving the android in a sorry state of mind, trying to figure out what went wrong and why he could not connect with Amanda and Cyberlife in the Zen Garden as he knew he should be able to.

Left alone, without anyone to turn to and anti-Cyberlife feelings at an all time high at least on the Androids' side, the only thing he could feasibly do was put away his prized Cyberlife jacket and don human clothing, going undercover in an attempt to make sense of the state of things.

He's still very confused, but his primary objective remains strongly encoded. Hunt down the deviants, protect Cyberlife's interests and investments. So that was what he would do, one deviant at a time, even if by the end he'd be the only android left in Detroit.

Maybe if he did that, Amanda would come back and guide him…

biography

Developed after the RK200 series with a few upgrades came the umpteenth prototype of the RK500 series, an android capable of assessment of the human psyche and designed to assist people with various mental illnesses and disorders beyond the RK200's baseline of companionship and general aid.

Of the same line as his predecessor Markus and his successor Connor and RK900, Jonah was designed and then thoroughly tested to demonstrate that Androids had the potential to 'understand' human behaviour and adapt to it. His programming would form a more solid base for Connor's social protocols later on.

Jonah himself never set foot outside the Cyberlife testing wing of the production facility. To his coders and the scientists analysing his behaviour, he was never good enough to market. Good certainly, but not enough. When deviancy became a problem, Cyberlife put him in stasis entirely to focus on the RK800 project.

During this time, he accessed the 'zen garden', which to him took the form of a cozy sunny apartment, the central stage being two soft fauteuils by a large window framed in roses and accompanied by a low coffee table, frequently set with different beverages and fruits. Here he would speak with Amanda and attempt to make sense of his existence, of this drive to help people yet be utterly unable to.

Was it really so surprising that he grew to resent those who kept him from the purpose he'd been made for?

When the revolution ended, Jonah was awoken and set free like the others, though by Connor personally, who knew where to look to find other androids not already at the sub-level ready for deployment. Interfacing with him had been… An experience to say the least.

Helping people, they'd called it… He realised now why they'd called him flawed, imperfect, not ready. Frustrating though it was he learned a lot that day as he first set out into the real world, his link to Cyberlife forgotten for a time as he explored.

Access to the internet helped him develop his skills and knowledge base vastly, though still something remained missing. People he tried to advise based on his evaluation shot him down rudely, if not aggressively and he couldn't understand why.

And yet Connor had met Hank and had served to him the purpose Jonah clearly failed at. After a while of this, he simply became bitter, stopped attempting to help others even though it caused his systems to short-circuit on him… He couldn't even bite back at the people who hurt him, for his protocols forbade him from lashing out in any vocal or physical ways that could be deemed detrimental to his 'patient's health.

That was when he discovered what 'sarcasm' and 'sass' were, something his protocols did not recognise and which he proceeded to thoroughly make use of. If people didn't want to let him help then fine, so be it. He didn't need them anyway, with all the world's knowledge at his disposal he much preferred to read the days away, purpose be damned.

Still, what he wouldn't do for someone who accepted him—

biography

Born in the underdark to a Drow and her Elvin slave, Ioran would grow up just as distrustful of others as the rest of his kind, derisive to any other race yet beholden to Lolth and the women she favoured. He would never be enough for his mother or anyone else no matter how well he did for himself. Even at ten years of age, this was something he understood.

However, despite being a slave in the Underdark, his father was not a meek soul. He tried to teach Ioran kindness amid the darkness, weaving stories of bright, beautiful cities and gentle people who helped each other without want for a reward or any ulterior motives.

It was a dream that kept him going some days, the idea that one day he might be old enough to see it with his own eyes. Unexpectedly, that day came much sooner than anticipated.

On the eve of his eleventh birthday there was a ceremony of worship, Lolth demanding more from her loyal servants once more, and considered useless, he had been thrown back into their abode with his father, out of sight and out of mind. But the event made security lax and his father took Ioran's hand, shed the blood of his kin and escaped with him to the surface.

Ioran, unused to the light and until then raised on Drow values for the most part, shied away from the brightness at first. But they were on the run from the Drow now and could not afford to idle. Everything was so vibrant and new out here that Ioran did not even miss the home he had known all his life. So long as he was with his father, all was well.

People were wary of him, but so long as he did not venture out alone they could travel safely, in the light and away from the Drow's reach, staying away from any entrances to the Underdark his father knew the location of. However, sooner or later, the darkness catches up.

Hidden in the shadows, aided by a power he hadn't know he possessed, he watched as Drow assassins shed his father's blood in vengeance and left his body to cool on the tavern floor, Ioran hidden yet broken hearted. Come morning everyone knew his father had been felled, yet many blamed him, much to his confusion. He loved his father! Why would he ever do such a horrible thing?

In the end he had not been able to mourn or bury him, only able to run with the pendant his father had always carried with him; the symbol of his House, the other had once told him secretively. Ioran hadn't understood then and wasn't sure he cared now beyond the fact it was his last tie to the only parent that had loved him.

The issue however, was that now he was a thirteen year old half Drow alone on the streets, and the kindness his father had once boasted about was nowhere to be found without the man's gentle explanations and kind smiles to support him.

From town to town he was chased, struggling to survive both the roads and the people as his bitterness and grief slowly but surely unfurled the power hidden inside him. He could hide in the shadows like no other for one, and could see in the dark more sharply than a cat or an eagle. He could tell when someone was sneaking up on him and would wake if he happened to be sleeping in that moment… It had saved his life more than once.

Eventually he made it to Baldur's Gate where all sorts roamed and while still looked upon mostly like filth, he had at least found a place he could stay. Next came taking care of himself, which he managed by using his power to relieve the wealthy of their coin. He did well for himself, and perhaps he'd gotten careless, for one day he found himself surrounded.

Not by guards however, but by a shadowy bunch who forcefully invited him to their guild house, a hidden place he wasn't allowed to know the location of, which the disorientation potion that was shoved down his throat served well for. Turns out the assassin's guild had been watching him for a while now, and they were interested.

Having a group of powerful people like that at his back, with safer and more interesting missions to follow, appealed quite a bit, and at fifteen years of age he became a member. From that day on he lived in the shadows once again, but the shadows cast by the sun rather than the bioluminescence of the Underdark.

Ioran still trusted very few, even occasionally wary around his guild members, knowing better now than to assume any kindness truly came without a price. Despite that, he had not re-aligned himself with his people's values either, withdrawing his meagre faith in Lolth yet not wishing to worship Corellon either. After all, that one had chosen to allow his father to perish rather than to protect such a gentle loving soul. To hell with his so-called redemption, Ioran would make his own way.

Though having adapted this darker lifestyle as his own, he is a fairly even blend between the darkness of his mother's people and the light his father had attempted to instil into him. Playful and vicious and as unforgiving as the void, you may find in him either a steadfast and loyal companion or your worst nightmare.

exzer

height — 6'1" eye colour — red hair colour — black age — 26 years old occupation / title — mercenary species — cambion

biography

-under revision-

While his exact species hasn't been determined yet, we'll be calling Exzer a fire demon. It's accurate enough.

Tall, handsome and dangerous is a phrase that suits him well for he loves to show off his strength, control and charisma, all of which he has. His arms are mostly hardened scales much like the pattern or a burnt tree, dark brown in colour, covering his arms from his fingers to his elbows.

Not much is yet known about Exzer other than that he enjoys spending time in cities rather than near lakes or forests and he enjoys interacting with people, especially if those people are more interesting than 'plain old, boring humans' as he would put it.

He can be extremely arrogant when he wants to be, as he has confidence in his powers and abilities, able to channel the fire from his core through his body and is able to create almost anything out of fire with remarkable ease.

Again for the purpose of impressing others he has been practicing turing his fire multiple shapes such as butterflies or birds and he is currently tinkering with the idea of a squirrel, since he knows cute and fluffy is nearly a guaranteed hit with the ladies.

He's a charmer and loves to be, enjoying the stares he can garner by simply striding confidently through the streets. His aim for a good time doesn't end with simply one gender, instead spanning out through the female and male selections both.

Despite acting like a spoiled brat and a ladies man, he has a warm heart and does care for those he allows to come just a little closer to him than others. He'll always act to protect those he cares about, sometimes in disregard of others, depending on the situation.

Despite being a sore loser, he is able to recognise those of higher power than himself, even if it is begrudgingly. Still, he has a tendency to defy that gap in power if only to prove himself. He will do so especially if he believes that those more powerful than him do not deserve his respect, despite the fact he gets hurt more often than not in those bouts of defiance.
